My Southwest Caravan officially starts tonight in Moab, UT with a welcome dinner. Each day I’ll try to post a shot and a tip.
On the trip from Zion to Arches, we stopped along the road that runs through Zion. Here’s a shot I took (Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 17-40mm lens) at Checkerboard Mesa, which is about a five minutes walk from the road.
Today’s tips:
• The name of the game is to fill the frame.
• Use a foreground element to add a sense of depth to an image.
• Focus 1/3 into the scene, use a small aperture and a wide-angle lens for the maximum depth of field.
• Be in the right place for the right light :-)
Well, I’ll catch you tomorrow with another photo and tip.
Explore the light,
Rick
