DPE Atlanta Workshop Photos/Tips: Part I

Photographs © Rick Sammon

Our first DPE Altanta workshop was a blast. Rob Knight and I enjoyed working with the 20 talented students.

We covered Lightroom, lighting, HDR and travel photography. What fun!

Each day this week I will try to post a picture/tip from the workshop. So stay tuned!

The exercise in the above photograph was to create dramatic lighting (in a very low contrast setting) using one camera flash. The technique: bounce an on-camera flash into a reflector.

In the photo below, Rob is holding the reflector. Each photographer stood in front of the model and experimented with the technique – many for the first time. Everyone got a great shot. Try it, you’ll like it!

Check our DPE Flickr group to see more pictures from the weekend workshop! They’ll be coming!

For more on lighting, see my book: Studio and Location Lighting Secrets. DPE’s Eddie Tapp took the cover photograph.

My next iPad app, Light It!, will be available in about three weeks!

Explore the light,

Rick
